What's Been Cooking in My World Since School Started

I have had a lot of followers and friends ask me why I have not posted in a while. Well, the reason is, school! School started at the end of August and I'm now in the 5th grade. I have had TONS of homework nightly and on the weekends. Also since school started, we do not go out as often on school nights. PLEASE be patient and keep checking as I will post/blog in the upcoming holidays and in February when I take a trip to Belize, Honduras and Cozumel :-).

I also had the opportunity to meet Guy Fieri at Zone Music while I was there for drum lessons. He was very nice and he also told me what is most important and that is getting good grades and school. Ever since then, my grades have gotten better and I am taking his advice seriously.

Thanks for following along!

  1. Rick Cutler, right? He's such a good drum teacher. My son had him for a drum teacher.

Mrs. Schmidt is a great teacher too. Study hard.

  2. Hi Mr. Gurney -

It is Rick Cutler. He's an AWESOME drum teacher and really great guy. I really like Ms. Schmidt too. She is a good teacher. Just SO MUCH homework - Ugggghhh! I'd rather review restaurants and food :-) I know, I know...study, study, study.

    Thanks for following my blog.

  3. Hi Logan!

Mr. Gurney said I should check out your latest post. Thanks for the compliment. We teachers need all the help we can get. Grading all of that homework can feel as burdensome as doing it. I have to admit, I really enjoy reading good writing though. Thanks for writing such great reviews!

This morning I had breakfast at the Fremont Diner, right here in Sonoma. I normally ride by it on my bike, but today we stopped in to try breakfast. You'll have to come try it and give your professional opinion. I took a picture of our food but can't figure out how to upload it from my phone. What we had was delicious! Jonathan, who always has a voracious appetite, wanted to order everything on the menu. I managed to whittle the order down to bread pudding, a Ginger biscuit, brisket with eggs, and a spicy egg and bean dish. (Jonathan had ordered French toast and pancakes as well, but relented and cancelled that order. We returned to our car with bread pudding and half a muffin in tow.)

Give it a try sometime and let me know what you think. We're always on the look out for good breakfast spots. Have a great break and don't do any HOMEWORK!

  4. Dear Ms. Schmidt -

Thanks for checking out my blog and thanks for the information on the Fremont Diner. I can hardly wait to try it.

Here are some places that I think have great breakfasts in Sonoma County:

    PETALUMA - The 101 Casino

This place is a casino along Hwy 101, but we don't go in there for that. We go in there for the food - not for gambling. The food is really good and not very expensive.

    COTATI/ROHNERT PARK - Tubby's Diner

Tubby's is located in the Oliver's Shopping Center on E. Cotati Ave. They have really good biscuits and gravy and the corned beef hash. I love it!

SANTA ROSA - The Omelette Express

This is in Railroad Square. They have omelette's and really good bread.

SEBASTOPOL - The East West Cafe

This is on Main Street in Sebastopol. I always have the Sebastopolian. It is blue corn cakes with blueberries, an egg (I prefer it scrambled) and turkey sausage links. I always order their fresh squeezed carrot juice.

You can get to all of these places by bike or car and they are all really good!
